Advices for conducting a successful drama crusade

REASON

The following are only advises not instructions. Reality Outreach Ministries has directed this drama many years together with local Churches and has gained those experiences to share with you.

The following experiences, which we share with you have come to us with years of  work together with the Churches like you. Of course we cannot make a rule out of experience.  There is always  a chance of exception as we work together with God who is not limited. That’s why we are always opened to His omnipotent leading as we are following our experiences that worked well last time.

GREATEST REASON of writing that is that we have seen the same drama producing good fruit rot the Kingdom,  but at the next step we have seen the same drama totally fail. It has not been a chance! If there would be a problem with the drama, then it had not been working anywhere! That’s why it is  so important to find out what we can do from our side to see the breakthrough and victory in preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Here we share to you about different areas to pay attention to BEFORE our team comes to your Church.

PRAYER

All the success  that this ministry has had, happened because of prayer!!!  Very often  Churches heard about the  results that HEAVEN’S GATES AND HELL’S FLAMES had in  all over the world. From this comes very easily  thinking, that  all we need for revival is to invite drama to come to our Church and we will have revival automatically. God does not have a single pattern for automatic success.  Not even our drama! All the good fruit that came through this project to Churches, happened because they took it very seriously in prayer! It is vitally important to mobilize ALL CHURCH into prayer as soon as it became clear that drama is coming to your Church. Please organize special prayer meetings where all drama cast, counselors and prayer warriors from the Church are present. Prayer creates an atmosphere where the Holy Spirit can freely move.  Without intensive prayer this could be only a good and  professional entertainment.  We are not a drama ministry, but a ministry of evangelization, who uses drama to preach the gospel!!!  Remember that this week, is a special time to fight for the souls of people and your loved ones!

COUNCELLING

We give altar calls every drama night. Our evangelist who knows the best the anointing that is on this ministry does this.  After this is  vitally important to gather the fruit.  Your Church must prepare capable people for counseling.  It’s important to train them in the basic things of counseling.  We will give more specific instructions at the time of the prayer meeting prior to performance. 

It’s better to provide some extra counselors. Our experiences are that often Churches meet with good surprise: too many people are responding to altar call.  It’s not good if you do not have enough counselors to handle newly converts and fruit will be lost.  Recently we had one head counselor said to us: “ I have been in this church 15 years head counselor, but I never seen so many people responding to seek salvation at the altar!”

Also please prepare written materials to hand out to newly converts. It’s good to have 1.Some part from the Bible 2.Information of the times of events at the Church, 3.Some personal message to them.  Some Churches organize a special night for them that made this decision at the time of the drama.  It’s good to have coffee and tea and fellowship time for new ones to make the atmosphere more unofficial. Also some Churches start right after crusade ALFA course or similar course to teach the basics of Christian faith.  That is excellent way to help new believers to integrate into Church.

This all has to be prepared earlier. Yes it is a lot of work!  But the only reason why we do the drama, is that people might come to Jesus  and grow in their faith.  We as a drama team  cannot help you as the  Church to make disciples out of newly converts. This is 100% your responsibility and privilege.

ADVERTISEING

If you try to save  money from advertising, then it could fail all your other efforts. Advertise drama crusade as much as possible to create excitement and anticipation in your area. 

For advertising we use posters and personal invitation tickets for main advertising.  Put out large posters to every possible place in your City.  The secret of advertising is that if some image repeats in the mind of a person  enough, then it will create interest to it in person.  One Church put out posters to every electric pole in their main streets. The first thing that you saw coming to city was drama advertisements. And the result was according to that.

But the problems with the posters are that they are impersonal. The best way still has been personal invitations. For that you have to print  small tickets  with the same logo as posters.  Encourage church members to hand those out to their friends, neighbors, and especially to their relatives.  This is so important that the drama cast invites their unsaved family members. We have experiences, that they come to see them in the drama, even if the performance takes place at the church building, where thy usually do not want to go.  There are 40-50 people involved with the drama directly. As each one of them invites 4-5 their friends, then it gathers already a good crowd for the first night. The best advertisers for the 2-th night are the first night  viewers!!! The purpose of advertising is to gather good crowd for the first night. From that on it would go itself. It’s also best if the newly converts have friends in the Church. Then they have best chance to stay at the Church.

In addition to that, please use all possible advertising ways  in your area: Newspapers, radio, television etc.

UNITY

There is God’s anointing and power in unity. As we go out as one heart and one soul for one purpose, then as God himself said: There is nothing impossible to us – Genesis 11:5. It is very important, that ALL CHURCH would be in it and not only drama cast.  We know, that in the larger Churches there are a lot of things happening at the same time. Often the drama crusade is just one of  the events.  The result is that the Church as a whole is not  with it in their prayers and help.  If only one small group tries to pull it through spiritually, then the result will be quite weak.  There is so much work to be done besides acting, that cast is not enough to do it.
